John Kerry, a renowned American photographer, embarks on global journeys in pursuit of unique and captivating subjects for his photography.

This is how he found himself traveling to Africa several years ago, seeking fresh inspiration and novel perspectives.

During his explorations, he ventured to Somalia, one of the world’s most impoverished nations, where he meandered through the streets, capturing whatever scenes caught his attention.

It was during one such moment that his gaze fell upon a young child seated on the ground. Struck by the profound sorrow conveyed in the child’s eyes, he felt compelled to take a photograph.

After some time had passed, and the portrait was complete, John decided to show it to the child’s parents. To his dismay, he couldn’t locate them. Inquiring about the child’s family, he learned that she had none.

A sense of surprise and concern filled Kerry’s heart. Unsure of how to assist the child he had observed playing on the streets, the photographer made the decision to accompany her.

Undoubtedly, they encountered a few obstacles along the way. Nevertheless, in the end, everything fell into place. By that time, both he and the young child had returned to the United States.

In exchange for her radiant happiness, he may have spared her from the anguish of despair, hunger, and exposure to the elements. It has been two decades since that pivotal day, and the young girl has blossomed into a genuine source of joy.
