A Shih Tzu Puppy Meets A Fluffy Kitten I was enamored by how well they got along.

It’s amazing how some friendships form under unusual circumstances. They can begin in the most difficult of circumstances. There have been stories about lifelong friendships formed in prison – not in “The Shawshank Redemption,” but in real life – and in other similarly harsh settings. While an animal shelter isn’t a prison, it’s also not ideal. That didn’t stop Ruggles, a puppy, and Chompers, a kitten.

Ruggles is so tiny when we first meet him. He can’t even stand or walk properly. Instead of walking, he totters around, as if someone had put liquor in his drink. But it’s adorable, and he’s a lucky little pooch to have been rescued from a puppy mill. He’s not alone there, though; the people at the shelter assigned him to Chompers. Despite their obvious differences, they became fast friends.

Chompers is the more reserved of the two, appearing perplexed when Ruggles, a Shih Tzu, decides to wrestle. They also enjoy attempting to play with balls. There is no evidence of cat/dog rivalry. It helps if they are introduced to each other at a young age. I’m curious what would happen if they were reintroduced after a few years apart. Hopefully, they will recall each other.

This story does have a happy ending, with both of them being adopted. Ruggles was the first to be adopted, and there was an updated picture of him as he grew older. He had apparently overcome health issues as well, which was not surprising given that he came from a puppy mill. He’s now content, and Chompers has also found a forever home. It’s wonderful that these two got along so well together. They’ll hopefully remember each other in their new homes.
