Twenty-five years after her role as Curly Sue in the 1991 film bearing the same name, Alisan Porter revealed her true passion—singing.

The former child star from the 1990s auditioned for the 10th season of “The Voice,” performing “Blue Bayou.” The four judges—Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Pharrell Williams, and Christina Aguilera—were quickly impressed by her singing talent.

Following the remarkable audition, Porter shared the personal reasons that led her to join the show.

Opening up about a challenging period in her life and her journey to sobriety almost eight years prior, she expressed her goal of being a devoted mother after falling in love and having children.

Grateful for the support she received, she felt that the universe had a plan for her, and the judges had her back.

Christina Aguilera, herself a mother of two, was deeply moved by Porter’s words, acknowledging the hard work of mothers and recognizing the talent within her.

Aguilera expressed a desire to be part of Porter’s story and serve as her coach for the season. Ultimately, Aguilera’s heartfelt words convinced Porter to choose her as a coach, marking the beginning of an emotional and passionate journey on the show.
