During my childhood, my dream was always to shine as a star. I would indulge in pretending to be an actress gracing the red carpet or stepping onto the stage to receive a prestigious award.
Initially considering a career as a singer, I later realized that singing wasn’t an essential aspect of my aspirations. Today, I derive immense joy from watching individuals who offer stars a chance, especially on shows like Britain’s Got Talent. It truly serves as a platform for those aspiring to excel in the entertainment industry.
What captivates me even more is the opportunity to hear the stories of each participant as they take the stage to showcase their unique talents. I firmly believe that every person on that platform deserves to be there.
Today, I want to share the story of a young boy who captured everyone’s hearts, despite his initial self-doubt stemming from relentless bullying about his love for music and his body weight.
This teenager endured physical assaults and mental torment during his primary school years due to his size and passion for singing. He reflects humorously, stating, “I don’t think those two mix. I sang theater songs a lot. It wasn’t cool.”
“People thought I should be singing rap music. But it doesn’t go with me.”
He recounts an incident where he was struck across the face with a metal scooter by bullies, and his mother feared for his safety at school. The abuse became so severe that there were days when he hesitated to attend school, facing derogatory remarks about his weight and sexual orientation.
Despite the adversity, he emerged stronger, quoting the saying, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never break me.” He expresses gratitude for the hardships, acknowledging that they shaped the resilient person he is today.
The unwavering support of his family, particularly his brothers Nathan, 29, and Ieuan, 23, played a crucial role in helping him overcome the ordeal. His journey with Britain’s Got Talent began at the age of 12, although he didn’t progress to the second round. Encouraged by David Walliams, he invested over £2,000 in vocal lessons, returning to the BGT stage three years later.
This time, his rendition of the song “Hallelujah” not only impressed the judges and audience but also earned him the elusive golden buzzer. The emotional and captivating performance showcased Kyle’s incredible talent and passion, leaving no doubt as to why he deserved the golden buzzer.
