A mom with 4 kids builds a big house using YouTube videos…

Meet Kara Brookins, a remarkable woman whose life was once filled with fear, despair, and uncertainty due to two divorces and unscrupulous husbands. As a single mom left alone with four children—aged 2, 11, 15, and 17—Kara decided it was time for a radical change.

The turning point came when Kara witnessed a tornado decimating an apartment building, leaving only the foundation standing. Inspired by this, she conceived the idea of constructing a frame house, a project she believed she could tackle independently.

To realize her ambitious plan, Kara secured a $150,000 loan from a bank and, armed with building materials and guidance from YouTube videos, embarked on the construction journey with her children.

Together, they learned the intricacies of pouring concrete, plasterboarding walls, laying bricks, and, most importantly, working cohesively as a team.

Now, Kara no longer worries about her children, asserting that building the house has made them resilient in the face of challenges.

Despite admitting that building a house with no prior experience was incredibly naive, Kara emphasizes that courage often hides behind naivety.

The result of their collective efforts is an impressive 1066-square-meter house, boasting five bedrooms, a spacious living room, a large garage for three cars, a workshop, and all the amenities they need.

Kara’s story exemplifies the transformative power of determination, teamwork, and courage in the face of adversity.
