Today, we share the heartwarming story of an Ohio couple who recently marked their remarkable 79th wedding anniversary while both celebrating their 100th birthdays!
Born in July 1922, June and Hubert Malikote share the same birth month. June’s birthday falls on July 13, while Hubert’s is on July 23. Although both of them originally hailed from rural Kentucky, their paths did not cross until they relocated to Ohio in search of employment opportunities.
These two kindred spirits initially met at church, establishing a close friendship. But as time passed, their connection blossomed into a deep and enduring love, culminating in their marriage on June 8, 1943.
Their early years of marriage were filled with challenges, including a two-year separation during World War II when Hubert served in the Navy in Hawaii. Upon his return, the couple settled in Hamilton, Ohio, and together raised three children.
Over the years, Hubert and June’s family grew to include seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. This year, the couple celebrated their centenary with a joyous backyard gathering and a special church service. Their unwavering faith and enduring love have served as the bedrock for their nearly eight-decade-long journey together.
As Hubert humbly stated, “We’ve never had a fight. We didn’t go through life without problems, but we would never do anything to hurt each other.” Despite the passage of time, June and Hubert remain committed to spending quality moments together.
They share daily dinners, enjoy movie nights, and exchange a loving kiss each night before they go to sleep.
