Adriana Iliescu, a Romanian educator, gained worldwide recognition when she accomplished an extraordinary feat by becoming a mother at the remarkable age of 67.
Her remarkable achievement secured her a place in the Guinness Book of Records as not only the oldest mother in Romania but also, at that time, the oldest mother in the entire world.
Now at the age of 80, Adriana is steadfast in her determination to continue her personal growth while also ensuring the well-being of her daughter until she reaches the legal age of adulthood.
She currently resides in Bucharest, Romania’s capital city, in her private two-bedroom apartment. During an interview, she conveyed that she has experienced newfound happiness since giving birth to her daughter, Eliza.
Adriana’s pregnancy was made possible through in-vitro fertilization (IVF), and she welcomed her daughter into the world in January 2005. Nevertheless, she faced criticism and even opposition from some of her friends, who accused her of selfishness.
At her daughter’s christening, the nuns disparagingly referred to the baby as a “thing of darkness,” making their disapproval evident. However, Adriana did not let their remarks deter her. After careful consideration, she chose a guardian for her daughter in the form of Dr. Bogdan Marinescu, the doctor who had assisted her in the conception process.
To secure her daughter’s future, Adriana also made financial arrangements, placing funds in an account. In addition to her extraordinary journey as a mother, Adriana Iliescu is a successful children’s author and a teacher of the Romanian language.
She has achieved significant success in her literary endeavors, having published over 25 books. Today, she fully embraces her role as a mother, nurturing her 14-year-old daughter, who exhibits a natural talent for the exact sciences.
