Janet Jackson finally addresses rumors about having a secret child from her first marriage at 18 years old. In 1984, the renowned singer tied the knot with musician James DeBarge, only to divorce him in 1985. Subsequently, speculations arose about the existence of a child born during their marriage, which Janet, being just over 18 at the time, allegedly chose to conceal.
However, in a recent documentary by Lifetime and an A&E special, Janet Jackson decided to set the record straight. She provided an explanation for the rumors regarding her supposed pregnancy and childbirth.
“At that time, I gained weight because I was taking birth control. However, many interpreted it as a sign of pregnancy,” the artist clarified. She categorically denied the allegations of giving birth to a child and then giving custody to her sister Rebbie or brother Jackie.
“These rumors have persisted for a long time, suggesting that I prevent the child from seeing his father. But that’s entirely untrue. I would never interfere with a child’s relationship with their dad,” Janet emphasized.
The artist also pointed out that throughout her lengthy career, she had been subject to various baseless rumors about herself. Some even speculated that her niece, Stevanna, was actually her daughter due to their striking resemblance.
It’s important to note that Janet Jackson officially has one child, a son named Issa, born in January 2017 from her marriage to businessman Wissam Al Mana.
