Random acts of kindness inevitably occur when they are most needed! Customer service advice, for example, can be life-changing for restaurant servers. This was undoubtedly the case for the fortunate server who served client Isaiah Garza.
Garza approached the server after his lunch and inquired about her preferred customer service tip. She was afraid to respond, but when she did, Garza’s reaction rendered her speechless.
Isaiah Garza is determined to make a difference in the world. Garza is a well-known fashion designer that started from humble beginnings.
“I was homeless several times,” he explained. I was sleeping in vacant office buildings and in my car. I remember being extremely hungry and having nothing to eat, so I understand.”
While he battled to find his place in the world, Garza always thought that if his heart was in the right place, everything will work out.
“Take it one step at a time, and lead with positive,” he reminded himself. Every event occurs for a reason. When something doesn’t work out, it’s possible that it was meant to take you somewhere else.”
His optimism and perseverance would open doors, and he now has clients such as Justin Bieber, Cardi B, and Chance the Rapper.
Before his big break, Garza was on a tight budget while studying at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM).
He recalled, “I would literally just go to the fashion district in LA and figure out how to make something work with $50. I was buying random supplies and putting things together. When you believe in something you really will do whatever it takes. And that’s what I did. I led with love and kindness, worked hard, and made sure I was ready for the day when the tide would change.”
That major break would shortly come from a FIDM friend. Garza summoned the guts to offer his jewelry for Rihanna’s style when his friend was working on a shoot with the singer.
That single “yes” altered his life forever. When a French magazine with Rihanna on the cover wearing Garza’s jewelry was released, Garza’s jewelry inventory quickly sold out.
Garza absorbed this lesson. “Even a little help and positivity may be tremendously valuable to someone who is struggling,” he said.
This is most likely why he is so generous with customer service tips. He has since assisted trafficking survivors and the homeless, as well as worked with corporations to assist those in need.
“If it’s for social good and I know it’s going to those in need, that’s good enough for me.” Garza is pleased to work for firms that care.
His work with KFC raised half a million dollars for non-profit organizations fighting hunger in various communities around the country. And he supports individuals and families at random, such as waiters who rely significantly on customer service tips.
Garza surprised the server at the restaurant with her ideal customer service tip. After initially responding that she would be content with whatever he was prepared to provide, she caved and stated that she would appreciate a $20 customer service tip.
Garza, on the other hand, insisted and inquired as to what she truly required. Without hesitation, the server stated that she needed to pay her phone bill as well as purchase a new air conditioner.
Garza did not hesitate and threw them an entirely unexpected customer service gratuity – $50 for her phone bill and another $300 for an air conditioner! “I really, really, really appreciate that,” the server added. “I’ve never had anything like this happen to me before.”
The server was overjoyed, but she quickly changed her mind. “To be honest, I’m just going to give it to my mum,” the server added. Her mother’s mortgage would benefit from the most appreciated customer service tip.
Garza, on the other hand, has huge plans, and his generosity won’t stop with customer service tips. He intends to help more people on a global scale, possibly through schools in underdeveloped nations and homeless shelters, as well as survivors of human trafficking and abuse.
He wishes he could host a chat show where he could help people. Garza’s ultimate goal is to become one of the world’s largest non-profits.
Garza added, “The philosophy that’s helped me is if you can just help one person, that’s one person in life that you can save and it multiplies from there.”
That customer service tip already multiplied when it went on to the server’s mother. Garza is certainly the embodiment of those who want to make this world a better place, and an inspiration for all of us to give chances to others whenever possible.
