It’s incredible to see what animals will do to help each other, even if they’re from different species. I believe that watching something like this would be a great lesson for as many people as possible. We should all be inclusive and helpful to one another, rather than rejecting one another because of perceived differences. For crying out loud, a dog is nursing kittens in this video. The world didn’t come to a halt, did it?
We see Mary, a beagle, feeding her puppies that she recently delivered. But those aren’t the only things in her crate. She’s also bringing three kittens that were abandoned at the shelter where she lives. The woman giving her the kittens to carry back into the crate could be a volunteer or her mother, but I prefer to think of her as the mother. Mary is lovingly licking the kittens as they rest in the crate.
There was one amusing moment when Mary was determined to return the last kitten to her crate. Her mother was using a syringe to feed the kitten, and Mary is attempting to pull the kitten off her mother’s chest. “I’m feeding this one,” her mother says as she taps the pooch on the snout with her syringe. Undeterred… She gently clamps her jaws around the kitten’s middle and carries it back to the crate, as if she was on a tight schedule here. Even her mother had given up by that point, sighing that she would be back in an hour.
Mary’s willingness to foster these orphaned kittens is amazing. She keeps a close eye on them and even prevents one of them from climbing out of the crate. Because this video was posted in May 2014, the kittens are now fully grown… as are Mary’s puppies. Hopefully, everyone adopted them all. This pooch would be relieved to know that her puppies are all in good homes.
