You’d probably say cats and dogs if someone asked you to name two animals that don’t get along. They appear to be natural adversaries: one seeks to please, while the other believes they rule the roost. A pleasant exception to this rule was uncovered by the personnel of an animal shelter through quick thinking.
Bobby, a Chihuahua, was only two days old when his mother was murdered by an automobile. He was taken to the Michigan Humane Society’s shelter, where the quick-thinking staff devised a plan. “The tiny Chihuahua truly required mother’s care,” said the owner.
They had a mom cat who was still nursing, and they thought it would be a brilliant idea to see if this puppy could get along with these men and see if mommy cat could treat him like one of her own. And it was effective! It was a pretty successful tryout, and we’re extremely pleased with the results.”
Bobby the Chihuahua was allowed to join the mother cat, a tabby named Gwen, and her litter of gorgeous small kittens. Maybe it was because Bobby was almost the same size as the kittens, or maybe Gwen is a supermom. Everyone was getting along swimmingly, as evidenced by the video below.
“You think about mother nature and how cats and dogs aren’t supposed to like one other, but as we all know at the Michigan Humane Society, that isn’t often the case, and this is an extreme example of that,” said Ryan McTige of the Humane Society.
They are currently residing in a foster family, where they are receiving all of the necessary socialization, affection, and medical attention. They were all adopted from the Michigan Humane Society and placed in loving forever homes.
