When you’re in a crisis, you find out what you’re made of.
Apartment high-rises clog the air with tortuous and twisted corridors dozens of stories tall in the center of Singapore. Workers on a nearby road heard strangled, desperate sobs echoing through the air one day and hurried to identify the source. They were terrified by what they witnessed.
A diapered toddler screamed for rescue, trapped between the floor of an apartment balcony and the railing that was supposed to prevent such a calamity. The child was trapped and in excruciating pain.
A crowd quickly gathered to witness the terrible event.
A few workers attempted to help the kid but were unable to reach the balcony ledge. When everything appeared lost, a man identified as a ‘foreign worker’ by a local publication began climbing to the rescue.
The unidentified worker climbed like a man possessed, reaching the toddler quickly and probably just in time. It took a few moments of jostling, but in less than a minute the worker was able to free the child from what would certainly have been a death sentence.
