Italian Barbers Start Sing-Along To Distract Frightened Toddler During Haircut.

Even the most common and routine activities are novel and sometimes terrifying to toddlers.

A recent viral video depicts a little child who is going through a frightening situation, and the reaction of others around him is so comforting that it’s no surprise that the boy recovers quickly. It all began while the child was having a haircut in an Italian barbershop.

This little child is clearly upset about getting his hair cut, as evidenced by his expression! He moans and whines, yet he hears a sound from across the room within seconds. As the camera pans over, three more barbers can be seen standing near their chairs, singing their hearts out in an attempt to divert the terrified child. Their customers are also smiling at the boy, apparently thrilled by the barbers’ impromptu show.

The song they’re singing is the Italian translation “I Due Liocorni,” which means “The Unicorn Song.” It is based on the children’s poem “The Unicorn” by Shel Silverstein, which tells the tale of how the unicorns missed the sailing of Noah’s Ark just before the great flood.

“There were green alligators and long-necked geese,
Some humpty-backed camels and some chimpanzees,
Some cats and rats and elephants, but sure as you’re born,
The loveliest of all was the Unicorn.”

Regardless of the song’s meaning, the goal was clear: to divert this young boy’s attention away from what was going on over his head. And it was successful!

The little boy’s tears dried up quickly as he watched the grown men singing the silly song. His barber can’t help but grin as he continues to cut the child’s hair in relative peace. Now that the video is going viral we all get a chance to watch these fun-loving men go the extra mile to help a scared little boy.
