Rachel and Levi Devine lived every parent’s most awful nightmare as their cheerful 6-year-old, Kinnady Devine, was suddenly fighting for her life.
Kinnady’s viral web video is difficult to watch, yet it is extremely influential. The sick little girl goes to Heaven while in the hospital suffering from a terrible disease, but she returns admiring Jesus and later recovers completely.
The young Kinnady was infected with bacterial meningitis, a disease that causes inflammation of the membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord. This is a serious illness that can kill you in a matter of days. It demands immediate antibiotic treatment; else, severe adverse effects like brain damage or death may occur.
Rachel and Levi sat at the hospice with their critically ill daughter, fearful of the worst. Meanwhile, a Facebook appeal to friends and family was posted, urging everyone to pray and assist in any way they could.
Doctors sought to sample cerebrospinal fluid in order to definitively diagnose bacterial meningitis and determine which bacterium strain was to blame (CSF). They would next administer antibiotics to her in order to combat the infection.
Kinnady was surrounded by her loving mother, father, and grandmother in her hospital bed. Rachel couldn’t stop herself from recording Kinnady after the excruciating and horrifying experience. Kinnady can’t seem to stop adoring her family and thanking her nurses for their kindness.
Kinnady’s exhaustion from the intense treatment sometimes gets the best of her, and she falls asleep. This occurs as she clasps her hands together and begins to pray. And the girl is taken to Heaven at that very moment.
Kinnady is barely out for a fraction of a second from what we can see, but she returns and exclaims, “I’m here?”
The girl’s surprise and delight at waking up in the same hospital bed surrounded by her loved ones are real. It’s almost as though she’s just gotten back from a long trip. Kinnady tells about how she’ll get better and how she prayed about going home in between thanking her family and expressing to them how much she loves them.
Kinnady’s mother subsequently emphasized that when Kinnady fell asleep, she must have believed she had died and gone to Heaven. Little Kinnady would wake up and begin praying all over again. Kinnady is waking up stating she went to Heaven and praying, Rachel subsequently explained to the doctor.
“I love God and I love Jesus… and live with Him!” Kinnady exclaims, adding, “I love God and I love Jesus… and live with Him!” Later, the sweet kid takes her mother’s hand in hers and asks her family to pray with her. “I’m better!” she exclaims enthusiastically shortly after.
What’s even more amazing is that Kinnady was correct. Only a few days after Sarah Ford, a family friend made a Facebook call for help, she updated her status to say Kinnady had been miraculously cured.
Sarah wrote that it is only by the Grace of God and prayer miracles that she walked out of that hospital as if nothing had happened, perfectly fine and with nothing wrong with her. Sarah added that if someone doesn’t have faith in miracles, prayer, or even God, they should hear Kinnady’s story.
Certainly, Kinnady’s trust and heavenly healing not only motivated her family but complete strangers, too.
