One of the most memorable periods of our lives is childbirth and the months leading up to it. The overwhelming delight and happiness that comes with learning that you are going to be a parent cannot be matched.
You’re out of breath from the anticipation of the delivery and what’s to come. Do you recall your first doctor’s appointment, when you had your first ultrasound and saw your baby’s heart beating for the first time? Nothing can describe the rush of emotions you feel when you realize this isn’t a dream and you’re expecting a child.
The next few months seemed to drag on forever; the first three months seemed to fly by, then the next five seemed to drag on forever. You suddenly realize that you’re in the final month of your pregnancy, and you’d better start preparing for the arrival of that wonderful little package.
The particular date will most likely come as a complete surprise to the majority; after all, nature can’t be rushed, can it? You try to enjoy your life as much as possible, despite the fact that you could be walking into a birthing suite any day to deliver a new life into the world.
The big day arrives, and you’re worried, just like any other expectant parent. If it’s your first time, you’re not sure what to anticipate. Shouldn’t you have paid more attention to the anti-natal classes? Well, it’s too late now; the time has come, and you must deal with it as best you can. The doctor enters and inquires about your condition; by this time, you’re beginning to break out in a sweat as the anticipation of the birth sets in.
The midwife enters with a bright smile on her face and assures you that everything will be OK. That’s easy for her to say, you reason, she’s not the one about to give birth, and then the labor begins… All of a sudden, your wife is the center of attention!
I know I shouldn’t make light of the situation; after all, the miracle of delivery continues to astonish me on a daily basis. The ability of two individuals to create a new life is something that should never be taken for granted, as some people will never experience the joy of giving birth and starting a family.
Oliver, the newborn, is introduced in the video below. Oliver had been sleeping as his happy father was filming his every move on his phone. When you see the looks on their small faces as they toss and turn in their sleep, you can’t help but wonder what they’re thinking about.
