Some couples share a love so pure that it brings joy and happiness to all who see it.
Kenneth and Faye Babin got married 72 years ago, and their love has only gotten stronger through the years. Recently their granddaughter Jalee started sharing videos of their long-term union on TikTok. Now the couple has fans and admirers from all over the world!
After a video of Faye sitting on Kenneth’s lap was viewed almost 9 million times, Jalee started sharing more videos of her grandparents with her fans. Everyone swooned over the way they still call each other by pet names: “Memaw and Papaw”, demand hugs and kisses from one another continuously, and sincerely enjoy being with the person they chose all those years ago.
When asked to share the secret of their long-lasting and happy marriage, 93-year-old Faye and 95-year-old Kenneth keep their answers short and sweet.
“He was handsome, and he sang and played the guitar, so put all of that together, it was very romantic,” Faye gushed, gazing lovingly at Kenneth as she speaks. She went on to say that showing physical affection was always very important to them both.
“Anytime I was feeling low, or feeling bad, I’d ask him, ‘Could I have a hug? Could I have a kiss?’ And he obliged!” she laughed.
When it comes to conflict, they agree that it’s never good to let problems fester. Instead, they keep the lines of communication open at all times, treating marriage like a true partnership as they navigate life’s often-choppy waters. “We always talked it out,” said Faye simply.
Sharing common hobbies was another tip from the couple.
“We loved to laugh,” Faye says of their life together. “We played cards, we played dominoes, we had a regular poker game. I did not even think of divorce. Murder, a few times, but…” Faye joked with a big laugh.
Kenneth says he never once considered being with someone else. He has only had eyes for Faye since he was a young man, and he never saw any reason to change the good thing they have between them.
“We never even talked about getting rid of each other, it was always the other way around. Sticking together,” he said.
Faye and Kenneth have been together through thick and thin, and their love never wavered. We can all learn a lot from their devotion and fidelity!
